From Ireland’s Ed Devane, under the moniker Withering Zithering, comes a four track EP of stunning ambience, of the slightly more experimental vein. Known for designing and building his own instruments, Devane’s take on whatever genre he is plying is never short of fascinating, with his predilection for sourcing sound from bespoke instrumentation contributing a highly original gloss. Rather than the ever-anodyne offerings of artists such as Fennesz, Devane offers us a more challenging, sit-back-and pay-attention, kind of beat-free texturing.
